1. Selection Procedure : Interview Process

2. Basic Qualification

Here are the complete job qualifications and eligibility criteria for United Airlines flight attendant job. Becoming a flight attendant at United airlines is possible only if you meet the below eligibility criteria.

  • Education is same as like other airlines. Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must have basic computer skills and math competency
  • 2+ years of customer service is added advantage.

3. Basic Job Requirements

  • The height should be in the range of 5’0” to 6’3” feet without shoes.

  • A vision test is mandatory. You should pass the vision test to become a flight attendant at united airlines. Both far and near vision test are carried out and each eye must be at least 20/40.
  • United Airlines want a person who has a good hearing capacity too! So you must have normal middle ear function. You should pass a hearing test (no loss on audiometry in better ear greater than 40 dB when losses at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz are averaged)
  • Must be able to travel freely within the United States and without restriction to all countries, United serves.
  • Must relocate to the assigned base location immediately.
  • Ready to work in shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.

4. Physical Requirements

  • Must maintain excellent attendance as regular, reliable attendance is an essential requirement of the position
  • Able to push/pull beverage carts or meal carts (150-250 lbs))
  • Must be able to lift emergency window exits (up to 60lbs); open emergency doors (91-126lbs)
  • Able to do basic physical movements such as stand, walk, bend, reach, stretch, kneel light lifting.

    • 10 year work history review
    • Physical exam
    • Criminal background verification check.
    • DOT fingerprinting
    • Drug screening Test.
  • Must pass a 6 weeks training program.

5. United Airlines Flight Attendant Training

United Airlines itself will provide you flight attendant training after you got selected. So there is no need to get any pre-training. You have to attend 6 weeks of unpaid training in any one of their base locations. After that, you have to move immediately to the city to which you are assigned for the job.

6. Salary

Salary of the United Airlines flight attendant is excellent. The salary may vary with the hours of work and the experience.

  • The first year pay $26.68 per hour. Increases up to $67.11 per hour as per experience.
  • Per Diem of $2.20-$2.70 per hour for all trips.
  • Reserve pay guarantee of 78-83 hours per month.

7. Base Location

Once selected, you must be ready to relocate to one of the below base locations of United Airlines. They will provide you training at the base station for some weeks to make you a successful United airlines flight attendant.
